TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's Foreign Ministry says no final decision has been made in the case of a woman who could be executed by stoning on an adultery conviction
Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday the "judiciary process has not been completed."
The case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani has drawn global outrage from world leaders and activists opposed to the brutality of stoning
Human Rights Watch says the 43-year-old mother of two from a remote corner of Iran was convicted in May 2006 of having an "illicit relationship" and was sentenced to 99 lashes. She was later convicted of adultery and sentenced to be stoned
After the outcry, Iran put the stoning on hold but said she could also be hanged for a conviction in the 2005 murder of her husband
